Posted - Feb 23 2015 : 6:42:44 PM I added a new feature to the photo upload. It required updating a background file that the website uses. Unfortunately, background files aren't very readily updated by browsers -- once they have them, they like to keep them in order to save time sending across the internet.
I put things in place that should trigger the browser to grab the file anew, but it's apparently not working absolutely.
If you visit this file explicitly (and hit refresh while viewing it, for good measure), it should force your browser to regrab it. https://www.heritagejersey.org/chatroom/inc_code.js
If you're using Internet Explorer, you may encounter a security warning and it will ask whether to open or save the file (in a colored bar at the bottom of the browser). Select to open it. You'll then be told the publisher couldn't be verified. Select "open" again, and it should open. (I don't know of better ways to deal with this than to simply ask you to trust me and open it.)
Also, make sure to refresh any other pages you were on, before trying to upload photos again.
I'm sorry about the inconvenience. Browsers are a pain at times (more than just sometimes, actually). Please let me know if the previous steps don't seem to remedy any issues with uploading photos. |

Number 2, w/ filename change, same filename:
Number 3, no filename change:
Number 4, no filename change, same filename:
All looks right in the world of photo uploading. |

Posted - Feb 24 2015 : 3:36:40 PM As an experiment, remove the apostrophe from the "Missy's", and they'll probably upload just fine. |

Posted - Feb 24 2015 : 3:35:48 PM Alright. Thank you for specifying that.
I see in the original topic that you posted a different set of photos successfully, so it seems linked to particular photos. Very unexpected. Is it the batch of photos titled "Missy's hoof ..."? I see a bunch of versions of those on the server from yesterday. If those are the photos that were problematic, then I imagine it's because of the apostrophe in the filename. I thought the issue of apostrophes in filenames was taken care, so I'll have to experiment and see if that is what throws it off.
Also, I realized even further steps I could take to make our website files update properly. I shouldn't have to ask users to specifically update background files; it's kinda tacky. So, even though that issue is now apparently unrelated to your difficulty uploading files, FWIW I'm still doing that to make sure the background files update when they need to in our users' browsers. |

I can post these older photos but not the ones I took today with the same camera. Very frustrating. |

Posted - Feb 23 2015 : 7:55:31 PM Yes, I keep opening < https://www.heritagejersey.org/chatroom/inc_code.js > and refreshing it. A dozen times already. The reboot does not appear to have done anything.
I have posted many photos here and it has worked fine. This just started this evening.

Posted - Feb 23 2015 : 7:42:45 PM But have you opened this page to make sure it is current (hit refresh after opening it, too)? https://www.heritagejersey.org/chatroom/inc_code.js
Firefox should give you no problems about opening it. Because the issue you're describing sounds like what happens when that page isn't getting updated in the browser.
Rebooting could help, but not necessarily, since browsers will generally still have their cache of visited files in place, and Firefox will often not refresh pages upon going to a tab again, unless specifically refreshed. |

Posted - Feb 23 2015 : 7:29:57 PM Is opening the page I linked not helping?
For the issue that I know of, that should clear it up, since it will force the browser to grab the latest version of a piece that makes the upload work properly. When that piece isn't updated, it causes photo uploads to look like they failed, because it suddenly hits a point where it's looking for something it doesn't have. |

Posted - Feb 23 2015 : 7:18:47 PM I'm on Firefox and T'bird. Has worked fine until tonight when I went to post the photo. Got to the point where you hit 'I'm Done' and then never comes back. |
