Posted - Feb 11 2016 : 8:42:38 PM A friend gave me this cookbook for my birthday this past week ...
My family thought that MaryJane had contributed to it as there is a chapter called "MaryJane's Contribution." However, it is the author's cow, NOT MaryJane!
Then, I just did a search for this book on this chatroom as it just sounded so familiar ... well, yes, MaryJane talks about this book back in July. Here's the link: https://heritagejersey.org/chatroom/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1058
But it is a fun book anyway ... I made eggs with avocados (I didn't put the egg in the avocado as I didn't have the time!) and used one of my newly laid duck eggs .... yum! So delicious. Sometimes, it is nice to read through recipes just to get some inspiration and then adapt it to real life. :) |

Posted - Feb 12 2016 : 10:26:11 AM Cindy ... you and I often have the same train of thought! I like this cookbook; however, it only has a short chapter using fresh milk. MaryJane's book covers very similar recipes already. I do like the other sections that feature fresh farm eggs, pastured-fed meats, garden produce, etc. The photography is beautiful and was done by her daughter-in-law. I love that it was a gift and it will complement my cookbook shelf very well! |

Posted - Feb 12 2016 : 06:17:06 AM That looks like a great cook book. I love to cook and bake, so I often get cookbooks for my birthday and Christmas and such. I don't have this one though. You're going to have to tell me how you like it! |

Posted - Feb 12 2016 : 05:02:14 AM charlene, i have literally been thinking about this cookbook lately for some reason ! i remembered mary jane had posted about it, and i kept searching here and amazon and couldn't for the life of me find the book (as i didn't know the title)... i just kept searching for things like "jersey cow cookbook" and other silly things.
now i'll have to go check it out to see i f it is something to add to my library. i mostly prefer lots of farm photos and farm discussion in my cookbooks ;> |
