This past week, we've been spending all of our time enjoying our daughter, Margie, our son in law, Jason and our sweet little cowgirl, my grand daughter Kendall (age 2). They just came to Massachusetts for a once-a-year visit from North Carolina.

What a precious time we had. Grandchildren are extra special!

This is our grand girl, Kendall's, first real exposure to our homestead life.

She especially loves our cows, Little Bit and Oliver. We gave her plenty of opportunity to help out, touch and hand-feed the cows, including Little Bit, yummy bits of organic alfalfa pellets and handfuls of hay.

Kendall insisted on calling Little Bit, "Kendal Cow." As you can see, they got along just fine! <3 <3 <3

Our grand girl insisted in calling herself not simply, Cowgirl, but "Kendall Cowgirl", as she did her best to help stack wood, albeit in the wheelbarrow....lol!

The learning experience here is a fantastic opportunity for all!

Following in the footstepts of Mary Jane and her granddaughters, we decided that it was a good idea to expose Kendall to a visit from Dr. Embree, and also his student assistants from Tufts University. They visited our farm to check Little Bit for pregnancy and give her the Triangle 10 booster shot, to keep her healthy.

Kendall stepped right up to watch! (No fear here) This was a great learning experience not only for Kendall, but for us too!

We also brought our grand girl to the local raw milk dairy, Walnut Lane Farm. We especially went to visit the newborn baby cows.

Kendall especially loved the newborn Jersey calves and took to them, immediately. This calf was only two days old.

Kendall ran right up to this newborn Jersey calf to tell us that this was her favorite!

Of course a visit to Massachusetts this time of year would not be complete without some serious apple picking time at Buell's Orchard, in nearby Eastford, Connecticut.

Three Generations, Kendall, Margie and Me, having a "Gala" Apple Orchard blast!

Of course Kendall loved for us to read to her Mary Jane's children's book, "Moo-N over Main Street Metropolis" (http://shop.maryjanesfarm.org/Moo-n-Over-Main-Street-Metropolis). This book is extra cute!

We took a few pictures of Kendall with her own Jersey Cow she decided to name, "Ice Cream."

We will send this photo to Mary Jane (along with a few others) to put into Mary Jane's Milk Bucket. Mary Jane will donate $1 for each photo we send to the "Adopt-A-Cow Project" that will help a very lucky child to get a real backyard cow, such a wonderful dream and opportunity!

Hopefully, Ken and I have planted a few tiny seeds (and dreams) about backyard Jersey cows into Kendall's mind. After all, this what grandparents are supposed to do, right?

What fun pictures of memories created with your granddaughter! My grandbaby just started taking his first steps this weekend! And, of course, every time he comes out to our place, I take him to see the farm critters. Thankfully, they live nearby so I get to see my little guy often. He loves watching the ducklings but laughs when Clover moos.

Loving life and family on our Idaho farm, Meadowlark Heritage Farm; A few Jersey cows; a few alpacas; a few more goats, and even more ducks and chickens

Wholesome goodness. Yes, one of our most precious and gracious gifts from above. Something to strive for and something to give to others. Keep smiling Ron, or don't give up trying.

Oh Ginger, Kendal Cowgirl is so cute!

A good laugh overcomes more difficulties and dissipates more dark clouds than any other one thing - Laura Ingalls Wilder

I live on a small farm of seventy acres called Green Forest Farm, with 10 horses, a donkey, 5 beef cows, 2 beef heifers, 3 Hereford heifers, around 60 chickens, 8 dogs, my amazing cow, AppleButter, and her little Jersey calf HoneyButter!

Thanks, Andrea. Thanks, Sydney.

Here's another photo of Kendall Cowgirl, my husband Ken and myself, playing with finger paints on her last day at our MA homestead, before flying back to NC. We had way too much fun!

I miss my Kendall Cowgirl, but cherish all the precious memories...every single one!
