Hi!! I have had my two jersey girls for about a month now. Mom is 3 and baby is about 7 months old. They are gorgeous and I am so happy to have them. We are trying to work through some boss cow issues I unknowingly created, but I am hopeful.
Has anyone else thought they had scoured the internet and read all the books (including Milk Cow Kitchen! Love it!) to learn all the things and was totally prepared before their cow, only to get said cows and find out you were so *not* prepared? Google has not been my friend! We are working through that, too, and the aforementioned issues I created are likely because of this unpreparedness. If I can figure it out, I'll add some photos of my girls. I just fell in love with their faces when I saw their pictures. |

Welcome JourneyThroughLove! Your BEAUTIES are beautiful (love their names). I'm always struck by what gorgeous creatures they are (as if I could forget), and even more so when it's a momma and baby. Love her black velvet face and very red coat, white muzzle, chocolate eyes ... see what I mean?
I've been frustrated about online information when it comes to beekeeping. It took a while for my own "hand" (intuition) to kick in and begin to guide me. In hindsight, I have to say my fumbling was in itself educational, albeit frustrating and discouraging. I'm mighty glad I hung on because I had success (beginner's luck?) this summer creating new hives by helping them hatch their own queens, etc. Learning by doing cannot be over-rated!!!
Don't hesitate to share the specifics of your journey. Maybe one of us can help. Success is a good thing! Not to mention all the extras: milk, cheese, etc. |
