Ron,
Just got second crop and some third crop hay in.
Been a good year for hay, 350 big rounds.
I am originally from Pine Ridge and then Keystone. Moved back here after the flood of '72. Moved in '74 to go to grad school and just never got back home. Sure miss my Hills.

| Any tips for ringworm, other than calling your vet and medicating it? I'd like to be ready if we ever get it here. |

Yep. Been a hay o Rama up here too Mike. Frost came about a week ago and now just let every one nibble grass. Kind of shocking to see the prairie still so green and plush so late but glad to see it. Good to hear about the calf.

| I don't know if there is anything to it or not but I was reading where Diatomaceous Earth worked on Fungal infections. Wonder if it would work on ringworm? I will see if I can find information that is a little more conclusive. |

| A couple of my cows had mites last spring so I not only gave them DE internally but also dusted it on their mite spots 2x/day. In my case, it didn't seem to help but I'd be willing to try it again. I ended up using what my vet recommended and the mites were cleared up in no time. |

| We use the de mixed in with the mineral mix added once a day to the treat for the cow. I think it helps more with internal parasites from what I am told. Not much problem up here with external but have talked to some who have topically put some 7% iodine on with good results. |

| I just usually dust a teaspoon daily in with the rest of the mix on offer some free choice mixed in with Her regular mineral too. She also has some baking soda and organic thorvin kelp too.never had a mineral or parasite issue on the place. Keep in mind my cows currently do not range. They are in a small area maybe half a football field size with two enclosures and I intense clean up manure two times a day. Don't know if that helps or not but until I get some decent fence up that is it. |

Thanks, Ron. We also give Clover Thorvin kelp as well with her dairy mix.

| You are on the right track Charlene. If you can keep goats healthy you cow will thrive for sure. And as much as you love her I do not think you will ever have an issue that can't not be solved.mnotbto forget the vet care you guys have available to you. |
