Hello,
We have been raising Jerseys for about 12 years. In the beginning we bought a big standard Jersey from a neighboring family farm. Fell in love with her and bought a few more... As the years went on, we desired to size down (our original girls were around 52 inches and 1000 pounds or more). We bought semen from Dexter Corner and got the following generation down to 49 inches. I like their size, but still feel like I want to see them bit smaller. I've always dreamed of having the old Jersey size. So, our plan continues... I've got some very high butterfat in the line that I hope to maintain or even improve. Because for us, it's all about the butter! In searching once again for semen to reach our goals, I found this site and it felt like finding family! I hope to get opinions on where to find very high quality semen that will keep our lines as good or better in the generations to come.
I'm so glad to have found you!

Welcome!!! It sounds like with your background, you'll be a wonderful addition to all things Jersey here. This place does feel like family. Again, welcome. |

welcome reverence! i am a newbie cow owner here, but enjoying the journey and so appreciating the mentoring i get around here from the others. you'll find no one here that is judgemental or snippy, we'll freely share differences of opinion but in a lovely community way.
you'll have to introduce us to a few of your cows, photos of course please!, so that we can ooh and aaah over your jersey girls. we love photos around here. and see the daily "chit chat" post as every day someone starts a post for the day and we all share everything mundane and major. its fantastic. |
