Good morning. Hope your weekend was a good one, good enough that you're ready for the week ahead. It's time to start planning for Thanksgiving dinner. In addition to the usual butternut and pumpkin pies, I'm going to try a nut-crusted cranberry tart--the crust made using our own walnuts. Well, guess I better get cracking.

Congratulations on another heifer Caren. What happy news. There's been a lot of that lately. Thankful for our cows and all they provide. Do you have names for your heifers yet?

Easter and Samson have a girl, born at 7:30 am this morning. She is the picture of health. I can't believe with have 2 girls, it has been so long I have forgotten. Now for Rainey.

Darla, oh my goodness I am over the moon with joy about your new girl. Welcome to milkmaid heaven. I really can't describe in words how magical keeping a milk cow can be. But now you will experience all the joy!

Lots of Thanksgiving preparation going on today. Please post pictures of all the great things going on this week.

Good morning Darla. Always feels good to get back home. Thankful you had a safe trip and sorry to hear about the poor gentleman who fell. Good to hear Lacy Lou tolerated the trip well. You will be tired after such a quick and long trip. I'm looking forward to your pictures and experiences, updates with your new milk cow. It's quite exciting. Best to you and yours and your new adventure. I smiled when I read about your men folk being smitten with Lacy Lou. Those cows have a way of doing that.

Good Morning All,

We made it home safe and sound last night at 7 p.m. Lacy Lou did just fine and every time we stopped before I could even get out of the truck either Austin or Tom raced back to the trailer and were loving and scratching her chin. I think the guy's might be just a bit smitten with the new girl!!!

Talk about Mooooving, we did 1,788 miles in exactly 70 hours and 30 minutes. I was a long fast trip, but so worth it. Tom's comment when we walked in the door was, "well we pulled off another one of our crazy trips!"

The only mishap on the way was when we stopped at a rest stop, a pick-up pulled in next to us and there was a couple about our age and a much older man. The older man slipped in some ice in the lot and went down. Gave all of us a heart attack, he was shaken up, but okay, Thank God!! Scared the ...... out of me!

Every one has had breakfast and the uproar in the barn was, Mom, were the heck have you been? Like they know, right?

Will get some pictures of Lacy Lou posted as soon as possible.

MaryJane, Tom the engineer was on constant milk barn design mode all the way home. He must of asked me a thousand questions. Thank you for the nice comment about Austin. He is a good young man. Some people think he is standoffish, but he is just very quiet and a man of few words. He is such a huge help to me it is unbelievable, and if he thinks I am doing something I shouldn't be, such as lifting to much or ?, it's "MOM" stop, I'll get it or I'll do that. Couldn't ask for a better son.

It is going to be a busy day, so I best get to "Cracking". Have fun with your walnuts you two.

Good morning MaryJane and all! Yes, good weekend. Under the weather but we still managed to get quite a bit done. I think I saw your "Flicker" perk up when you mentioned a "Nut crusted cranberry tart." Walnut crusted cranberry tart. I've been cracking walnuts here in between jobs. I love them in biscotti. And it's all your fault MaryJane. When I read where you were eating Granny Smith apples off the tree in November, I promptly ordered a dwarf tree. Should be here Friday. Going to get the hole dug today and ready for it's arrival. Have a wonderful day. Laundry is calling.
