Posted - Apr 04 2015 : 5:37:42 PM Impressive! There is so much joy to be found in nurturing crops, planning for them, building structures for them, building soil, and then of course eating the end result. You're being nourished body, mind, and soul. A cow is a fantastic soil builder. You're wise to choose one for the team. Go team garden! |

Posted - Apr 03 2015 : 08:16:42 AM MJ - one of the joys of living in the south is that i have radishes that size about 8 months of the year ;> once we hit july they back off due to excessive heat... but i pop seeds in raised beds ongoing so we have a steady supply nov thru june...
also, these are "french breakfast" so they are longer, although these don't have much white on the tips. The carrots are also quite baby in relative size... and thats a chinese radish on the right - spicy!
we don't yet have a green house so we just use cattle panels over the raised beds year round (it looks really cute!) and then in the winter months we have those heat lamps clipped one to each raised bed... and on nights freezing or below we pull a large plastic tarp over all the beds and weigh it down with bricks. then open back up each day for light and rain. a poor farms greenhouse that works quite well for us, and can't beat the price/investment! |

Posted - Apr 03 2015 : 07:24:09 AM I know it's just a test but it is true, you have radishes that size already? If so, I'm moving to Texas. |
