Again the week has gone by so fast, I just want to pull back the reins and say, "whoa, let me catch up." That however, is not how it works and I must do the best I can and be happy with it. More thunderstorms rolled through from midnight on. Nellie is holding onto her calf it seems. So a wet and cool day ahead. Good one to get inside work done. Hope you all can enjoy your day ahead and have a splendid weekend.

The girls did a great job taking pictures. And your heart should be overflowing as I'm sure it is. What a full, wonderful day with the girls. Now if they can get Anna back on solid ground and her strength and weight back up. Hugs MaryJane.

Good day all around. Pied Piper Cindy, Peeping Cow Mom Janet, and Proud Mom Sydney.

Anna is holding her own, touch and go, but tomorrow I'll be able to get some Reashure Choline down her. Will let you know.

While we were getting the babies fed tonight, I handed the girls my IPhone and asked them to take some pics. Here they are:

I took the girls to school this morning, joining them for breakfast, assembly, classwork, recess, and finally lunch before hugging them goodbye. It was grandparents day.

Your walk sounds full of farm friends Cindy. Just finished milking. Wet and windy continues. I saw one delphinium was bent over from the winds, so grabbed a few bamboo stakes and tied them up after chores. Some of them have buds on already. Still quite cool. 46 degrees. Nellie got an all over brushing and bedded down, and the other two cows are in their stalls with their calves. Have a pleasant and restful evening.

good evening ladies. i guess no calf watch on hjo for a few days... we'll all survive without a new calf i suppose.

i meant to tell maryjane that although poor anna looks skinny and tired - what a GREAT udder!

i am ready to crash tonight. good but busy/demanding week. glad to return to farmgirl for the weekend. our garden is doing great and we can feel summer upon us.

when i took the pugs out tonight and walked them through the wooded area i started looking at the creatures following me around. i had 5 barn cats, 2 hens, and 1 retired rooster. i felt a bit like doctor doolittle. the woods are by the chicken coop, so the hens were normal as those two jump the fence and wander regularly. but the retired rooster apparently followed us from the back yard, and the cats came out of the woodwork all over the farm to follow us around. all of them are such sweet little creatures, it was really cute.

have a nice evening ladies. its still light out but i might just go hit the tub soon...

Hello Cindy and Sydney. Yes, the going back and forth to the barn has definitely been tiring this time. I told Joe on Nellie's due date, which was this past Weds. that from the signs I'm seeing, she wouldn't deliver until Tues. (5/23). And it really doesn't matter to me when she delivers, just so she does fine and no problems. I was just researching wireless cameras for the new milk parlor, because it's farther away than the current barn we have. The exercise is good, but I could be doing other things and not wasting time going to and fro. With a monitor I could watch from the house and then go if things look close. So, more research and homework. Cindy I don't envy your heat and humidity. It was 41 degrees when I went to milk this morning. Had to put on a hooded sweatshirt. Enjoy your day ladies. Keep us posted Sydney.

Good morning friends! My AppleButter is holding on to her calf, too, Janet! We keep thinking it's going to be soon, but nothing yet. We think tonight, I am pretty tired of getting up and walking don to the pasture or barn about twice a night, but we know she will go soon. Sorry to hear about Anna. We're getting the rain from you, Janet. It's supposed to be all day. Have a wonderful day everyone!!

"whoa, let me catch up." i feel exactly the same. we are going to wake up tomorrow morning and it will be thanksgiving, or christmas, or new years. the years is half upon us.

poor anna. so sorry about that maryjane. hope the new stuff works.

i am back to deskgirl duties today so need to get cleaned up post milking. it is so hot and humid here, it feels like it is july. a high of 90 today with overcast and serious humidity. 80% chance of rain tomorrow.

have a great day ladies, and anna too!

So sorry MaryJane. And poor Anna. Hopefully get this turned around pronto. I will have to read up on the ReaSure product. Never heard of it, but then we're not typical dairy. Mainly want Anna to get better and your days less hectic. Keep us posted on her progress. May your day get better as it goes along and good news about Anna. Warm and healing vibes coming to you.

Yay for Iris! Good morning Janet. Your parlor photos from last night have me packing my bags--'tis I who wants to move in. What a lovely facility.

I took Anna back to WSU yesterday. More weight loss and not eating and all the way colored on the Ketone stick.

I finally got ahold of Tim Covington last night and have some of below on its way here for a Saturday delivery hopefully. He said this is what will work on her and that this happens to quite a few of his cows--typical dairy stuff it sounds like. You give it to them in their feed before they calve and also after. More on that later. I'll have to put Anna's in a #7 gelatin capsule and use a balling gun to get it down her since she isn't eating.
