Posted - Jan 12 2018 : 1:02:50 PM I received a letter today from Genex stating that my current contract with them to store Samson's semen (and ship it to those who purchase it) was "deemed outdated in legal protections for all parties involved." They've asked everyone with semen in storage at their facility to sign a new contract while also agreeing to a storage fee increase. I have plenty of Samson's semen in my personal storage tank here at the farm, plus his genetics are well-represented in my herd. I'm going to let them discard his semen. To that end, I'm offering straws at a close-out price of $5/each (with you picking up the shipping fee as has always been the case). This offer stands for two weeks from today 1/12/2018 (deadline of midnight 1/26/2018). Please email me directly at cattle@maryjanesfarm.org to make arrangements for shipment to you or to ask questions.
You will find a description and information about Samson here: https://www.heritagejersey.org/chatroom/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=476

Posted - Jan 25 2018 : 08:09:36 AM How handy. Only 20 minutes. Handy is everything. Looks like there are going to be a lot more little Samson calves in the world. We've down to just a few straws. Thanks Darla!!!! For sure, it's all about the yummies. |

Posted - Jan 24 2018 : 08:26:37 AM MaryJane, Thank you for this opportunity.
I obviously won't be using it on LacyLou, but plan on adding more Jerseys in the future. My canister ships on Monday to our local facility and they are wonderful and came highly recommended by my Dairy Science professor. Best part they are only 20 minutes away.
Again, the hubby is like "What the Heck" and wonders about my sanity! Just wait until all the YumYum starts coming in, and then he'll quit questioning my decisions. Hopefully |

Posted - Jan 14 2018 : 05:35:36 AM Yes, very good price for semen. I still have 3 straws of Samson's semen plus several straws from other Jersey bulls, and not knowing how long we will continue, I believe we are also covered. Thank you MaryJane for the great offer. |

Posted - Jan 13 2018 : 3:59:33 PM Yes, Charlene, I paid to have semen stored there for several years, back when Shirley Sandoval was there. You might want to call and ask them if they still provide that service and how much it costs. |

Posted - Jan 13 2018 : 3:39:46 PM Wow. What a deal. If we didn't have Samson's son, I'd be getting some. But I think we may be covered ... haha, quite literally! But then again, I've heard that having semen straws is a good insurance.
If we don't have our own tank, can WSU Vet school store the straws, MaryJane? |

Posted - Jan 12 2018 : 6:32:33 PM MaryJane he is a Dandy, and I have his beautiful daughter to prove it, so that puts Lacy Lou out of being able to use his semen for AI. However I will give this some thought for future gals I would like to add to my current single cow herd. LOL
Early congrats to all who may be able to purchase semen from this amazing bull! |
