Have you read anything about using kelp with your dairy cows to improve their health or milk production? I have just heard a little bit about kelp being a help with improving the immune system of cattle as it has so many good trace minerals, including iodine.

Yes, I see another book in your future! Yay for the rest of us! Do all farm animals need to have travel papers in order to cross state lines? Or just beef and dairy cows? Where do you check?

I just went through almost an entire week trying to figure how to get travel papers in order to ship a bull to Montana and one to Oregon. It seems that every state has different regulations. And just so I remember all of it for the next time I have to do this, I'm going to write it all down this weekend, as well as contacts I unearthed for getting information. Even my vets at WSU didn't have all the answers. Once I get it all sorted out, I'll post it here but really I should start thinking about another book:) Shipping animals is that involved!!!!

Here's one of the complications I ran into. The state people I called would list the diseases I needed to have my bulls tested for when I said I was transporting Jersey bulls, but as it turns out, one woman gave me the list for beef bulls, not dairy. Dairy bulls need different tests.

And, I continue to inhale all the information in your book. Thank you for writing it, MaryJane. It truly is a great resource...in fact, I'm off to read more tonight. It is a treat for me after my little ones are tucked into bed at night and the house is quiet...smelling the summer rain tonight. A delightful way to close a day.

I want it to come out soon so I can continue to inhale all of the great information!

I just need to say that the few pages from your book look fantastic! The photos are so clear and informative. Cannot wait for it to come out...not long now! Thank you!

I will send you the pages from my book that tackle this universal question via email. Too much to type:)

I am getting a quote from ModestoMilling now. What other supplements do you use or recommend for our Jerseys?

I offer it free choice to my cattle. I get mine from ModestoMilling.com. I highly recommend it!
