Good morning to all and welcoming in a new week in July. 66 degrees this morning after thunderstorms and much needed rain. Things are running smoothly at this time and enjoying the little surprises each day brings. My first pond lily blossomed yesterday, and it was a delight to see. Cows and calves are doing well and I'm sure they will enjoy the cooler weather as much as we shall. Have a pleasant and productive week.

Nothin' quite like a pond lily. So exotic and delicate. Untouched in a way. My son planted several of those in our pond many years ago, but they don't bloom for a while yet I don't think. I will have to pay closer attention to when I get to experience their beauty.

I put both Lizzy and Maggie in with Ian during their heats. Lots of action so I'm hoping they're pregnant. Buttercup is in with him right now but so far, all is quiet on that front. Probably tomorrow.

Glad to hear you got some rain. We could use some again soon. We've had guests coming and going. Stella and Mia like to put on their aprons and surprise them with chocolate chip cookies, brownies, or rice crispy treats the first few hours they're here. Our neighbor has a field crew and so she's been putting in lots of orders with the girls for cookies delivered in the middle of the day. They've gotten good at doing their cookie business transactions on an iPad. Impressive. Me, I know how to sharpen a pencil.

Glad to hear all is well and things are running smoothly. Such a rarity! We are without hot water right now in our facility because the boiler went kaputs and we're waiting for a part. I took a hit to my forehead from an angry wasp. The bridge of my nose is still swollen and I have dark circles under my eyes but at least I have eyes again; they were tiny slits for a couple of days. The grandgirls had some friends over and kept asking me to take my sunglasses off, "Nanny, show us your face again." At least they were amused. I wasn't.

Love reading about the grand girls and their cookie business. Sounds like fun for them and flavorful for guests and crew. You had a run-in with wasp and I had a run-in with a honeybee that some way, some how, got inside my bee suit and up under my mesh helmet. Stung on the jaw and I looked quite odd for a couple of days also. Swollen jaw, and neck, lips, eyes too but not bruised. Itched like crazy, nearly passed out twice. I lost a day, as I was quite ill from it. So glad that has passed. Onward and forward to the next episode I imagine. Hope you get the rain needed. We've been getting about and inch a day for the last few days, really helps.

I had that happen with a honey bee in my face mask. Since then, I always tuck my coat into my pants and then cinch them up tight. Not my best look, but it keeps the bees out.

My outside cow-trough gardens are bursting with flowers. I'd planted garlic in amongst them and have harvested that already. So now, just flowers and lots of them! I planned it this way so I'd have an endless supply of bouquet flowers for our guests. Weed-free, care-free.

Good morning MaryJane! Ha! My bee suit look isn't going to end up on the fashion runway anytime soon, and I usually where a hooded shirt under that, because I am so allergic to the stings that I try to protect myself but it seems they find a way. Usually they are quite docile, but it was just a busy day and lots to do and everything was stirred up. Smoking didn't seem to help much at all that day. No matter, better now. Your flowers are gorgeous. Grandma always had large glass pitchers and vases full of zinnias and gladiolas. Fond memories. I am taken right back to the home place when I see yours. Just beautiful. And your dahlias! Breathtaking! I'm envious of your guests. What a wonderful and pleasing personal touch for you and your guests.

It's threatening to rain today. I hope the clouds let loose. My glads are just starting to bloom. I'll take a grandma photo for you.

Good morning! I look forward to the gladiola pictures. I take much pleasure in the cows/new calves, all things growing in vegetable and flower gardens. It's a treat to see a new blossom or bring in fresh produce. It never gets old. I think I will round up my soap making supplies and get ready to make a couple batches of soap. See how things line up and if "life" will cooperate with my plans. Hope those threatening clouds gave your plants some refreshing drops of rain. Enjoy the day!

No rain and things are heating up. Water this, water that. This is quirky but I love washing the B&B bedding simply because I hang it all on the clothesline. The smell and feel of wet linens is such an escape from doing, doing, doing.

I should make smaller, one-use soaps for my guests. Maybe I'll tackle that next year.

Well, life did interrupt. Brought my milk up to make cheese, but I had a flat tire on my truck, so took it to have it fixed, Joe followed behind me after we filled the tire up with air. Once we got to the station, Joe was going to bring me home and we could pick it up later, but the owner said they would do it right then. So, we waited. The owner's wife was working behind the counter, and she asked me if I was Joe's daughter. Nice start to the day, huh? Anyway tire is fixed, there was a nail in it, and I'm back home trying to decide if I'm going to tackle cheese now or wait until morning and start anew. I've always wanted a clothesline, but I have many trees, and the birds would no doubt bless my clean laundry with droppings.

Joe's daughter!? It must be that new perky hair cut of yours. When I had kids in diapers, there was a mulberry tree in the yard. Those purple stains from the birds dining on them never did come out.

It's about to get dark so I'm going to call it a day outside. I brought 12 empty milk jars in from the store (returns from milk customers) and stopped to admire my fields of oregano (and clover). It's done very well. I'm so pleased with how thick and hardy it is. Not to mention how much my honey bees love it.

It comes right up to the road's edge, sturdy and tall.

Love your oregano and clover. And the aroma when you are passing by has to be a welcome plus! I have a few clumps here and there and will plant more this fall or spring. Love it and it has so many benefits. I had a new delight open up yesterday in my orchid room. . And all my Streptocarpus (Cape Primrose)are in bloom. So there is plenty to please the eye, inside and out.
