Endlessly curious Buttercup got into trouble last night, just in time for another blizzard-y snowstorm.

Guess there's a porcupine missing a few quills this morning.

She wasn't too happy to have a halter put over her nose so I tied her up around the neck first, then slipped it on as carefully as I could.

It was super handy to have a squeeze chute, because I could tie her head securely in one spot. I started out using a regular pair of pliers but then realized a pair of needle-nose (ha, named for this very thing) would work better because I could grab a whole cross-section at once. I ran my fingers over her nose afterward and I'm pretty sure all of them came fully out.

She was pretty good about closing her eyes and going to her happy place.

After I was done, I lowered her head so that when I sprayed her nose with surgical iodine (not the iodine for dipping teats), it didn't go up her nose.

Good to go again, but not until I gave her a good finger wagging.

Bless her poor little heart! That didn't feel very good twice. Oh it makes me hurt just thinking about it. Seems like there is always something to contend with almost on a daily basis. Hoping Buttercup feels better soon. Perhaps she won't be so curious when she comes upon another porcupine.
